The Ugly Truth – Are You Waving or Drowning?

It’s critical you know the difference between waving and drowning in your marketing.

Please don’t make the mistake of coming across as drowning when what you really want to do is wave, greet and give a big hug to your prospects.

As you will see below it’s a slight difference that makes a BIG impact on your results. Waving brings life to your business and drowning is an ugly truth you just want to avoid at all costs.

I was struck by a poem when I was in high school that still resonates very powerfully with me several decades later and it powerfully illustrates an Ugly Truth about what a lot of people are doing right and wrong in marketing their business (scroll down for poem).

I really, really don’t want you to be seen as if you are drowning when really what you want to do in your business is wave!

The Ugly Truth is that most women I meet only market when they are looking for new clients or are even desperate for them. They have no infrastructure, no plan, they are just randomly trying Facebook ads, video, blogging, calling people and one of two things gets in their way of this succeeding.

UGLY TRUTH #1: Giving away great content without having a relationship building system in place to capture and more importantly nurture your prospects automatically is DROWNING. Even if you have a full clientele it’s very important to set up a nurture system for prospects.

UGLY TRUTH #2: Ignorance is the same as DROWNING. If the system you have in place is not working however you don’t know because you are not consistently using, testing and tweaking it you are NOT waving you are drowning, and you are drowning slowly.

DANGER: When you are feeling desperate (DROWNING) in your marketing it might even feel productive to you to randomly put things out there rather than doing nothing… however…. from the outside it just looks like drowning not waving.

Great marketing is warm, valuable and thoughtful. It is waving at your tribe, calling them over, nurturing them and offering value to them. It takes listening, infrastructure, planning, testing, wanting the best results for your product or service and technology.

The challenge is most of you don’t want to be marketers you want to do what you do best and the world needs you to.
